Indonesia Establishes Preparatory Committee for Commemorating the Birthday of Marshall Kim Jong Il

The Indonesian-Korean Friendship Association and Cultural Exchange together with the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Jakarta held a meeting to form a preparatory committee for commemorating the birthday of DPRK leader Kim Jong Il which will be celebrated on 16 February.

The meeting which was held at Jalan Proklamasi, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (31/1) was chaired directly by the Chairman of the Association, Teguh Santosa. Present at the meeting were Secretary of the DPRK Embassy in Jakarta, Ri Chong Ryul and Political Attache An Hak Jin.

Chairman of the Association's Board of Trustees Ristiyanto and member of the Board of Trustees Eko Surjosantjojo were also present at the activity along with a number of Association members.

In the meeting it was decided that the preparatory committee would be directly led by Teguh Santosa and accompanied by Secretary Juliantiqo and multimedia staff Denny NJA. The activities also involved Bung Karno University and the Juche Study Group Indonesia (JSGI).

The three activities that will be carried out are the launch of a collection of speeches by the highest leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un which will be held at Bung Karno University, then a virtual and hybrid photo exhibition, as well as the laying of flower at the DPRK Embassy on Kim Jong Il's birthday.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Secretary of the DPRK Embassy, Ri Chong Ryul, showed a short film about the latest developments in the DPRK, such as the results of the Plenary Meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea at the end of December 2022 and followed by the launch of a new weapon developed by the DPRK, namely the 600mm Super-Large Multiple Rocket Launchers.

The film based on the pictorial magazine also shows a number of development programs in rural areas and Korean children's union activities.

Furthermore, Secretary Ri also showed a display of photos that are being exhibited at KawanKorea.com with the title "Under the Leadership of Great Commanders".

At the end of the activity, Secretary Ri pinned a friendship pin for new members of the Association.
