APRCFSKP Enlarged Meeting Concludes with 30 Nations, Pledges Stronger Solidarity with DPRK People Ahead of Historic Anniversaries

The Enlarged Zoom Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People (APRCFSKP) concluded today, with participation from around 30 countries, including Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Finland, and others.

Opening the meeting, Mr. Raymond Ferguson, Director of the APRCFSKP Secretariat, extended a warm welcome to all participants and expressed his sincere hope that everyone was in good health and that their collective efforts and struggles had achieved success.

On behalf of the APRCFSKP, the Director welcomed the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day and extended heartfelt solidarity greetings to H.E. Kim Jong Un, the Workers’ Party of Korea, the Korean People’s Army, and all Korean people on this historic occasion.

Mr. Christian Popovich, President of the Australia–DPRK Friendship and Cultural Association, expressed his support for the Director’s report and endorsed it. Mr. P.R. Pant, Secretariat Member of the APRCFSKP, also endorsed the report, emphasizing that the Korean people’s heroic struggle for liberation, sovereignty, and justice is exceptional. He highlighted the historic victories achieved—from liberation under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung to the successful defense of the Fatherland against imperialist aggression—and reminded participants of the enduring duty to remain steadfast in friendship and solidarity with the Korean people.

The meeting called upon all affiliated activists and organizations to unite in purpose, strengthen solidarity, and remain unwavering in friendship with the Korean people. Senior journalist Rajan Karki also delivered remarks on behalf of Nepal at the program.

Comrade Teguh Santosa, Chief of the Public Information Bureau (PIB), presented an update on the Bureau’s activities. Comrade Javed Ansari, Chairman of the Pakistan–DPRK Friendship Association and Director of the ARIJI, briefed participants on the upcoming International Seminar on the Juche Idea, to be held in Pyongyang from October 7 to 11, 2025.

The meeting also acknowledged the outreach efforts of Comrade Peter Wilson, Executive Bureau Member of the APRCFSKP and Secretary of the New Zealand–DPRK Society, who sent letters to all 193 UN General Assembly members and to the Chairperson of the UN General Assembly’s International Peace and Security Committee (from Costa Rica). The letters addressed the need to replace the Korean Armistice Agreement with a formal peace treaty between the DPRK and the United States to ensure lasting peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.

Looking ahead, participants noted that October 10, 2025, will mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), established by President Kim Il Sung on October 10, 1945. A preparatory committee—comprising members from Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, and New Zealand—was formed to organize anniversary celebrations and prepare a congratulatory message to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
