Mausoleum of King Tongmyong

Mausoleum of King Tongmyong

The Mausoleum of King Tongmyong is situated in Ryongsan-ri of Ryokpho District.

There is a monument on which the letters "The Monument to the Reconstructed Mausoleum of King Tongmyong" personally written by President Kim Il Sung were carved.

The mausoleum consists of a tomb supported by 160-odd platforms and structures peculiar to the Korean nation including Jongrung Temple.

There are more than 30 stone sculptures and dozens of art pieces showing the braveness of Koguryo people and their customs including image of King Tongmyong.

Its surroundings look like pleasure park with Jinju Pool, a large vacant lot, thick pines, greens and flowering plants.

Thanks to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, the mausoleum was wonderfully reconstructed.

The President saw to it that the mausoleum was built perfectly as befits the grave of the founder-king of Koguryo and the Chairman solved all the issues arising in wonderfully building it to the highest standard.

The mausoleum, which was reconstructed wonderfully under our Party’s policy on national heritage preservation, serves as an educational place in history showing our people’s superior architecture and time-honored national tradition.
